Terminal Information
It’s easy to get to your destination from Tweed-New Haven Airport. Arrange a rental car, taxi or Lyft to get you on your way. Local bus service is available to take you throughout New Haven. We’re conveniently located near Union Station where you can hop on the Greyhound or take the Amtrack to New York, Boston, and other destinations beyond.
Arriving at the Airport
Wait times at Tweed-New Haven Airport are much shorter than at large airport terminals, but make sure to give yourself plenty of time for check-in. TSA screening includes both a luggage scan and body scan. You will be asked to remove your coat, belt and shoes. TSA screening may conduct random baggage searches as allowed by law.

Identification for Check-In
Adult passengers (18 and over) are required to show a U.S. federal or state-issued photo ID in order to be allowed to go through the checkpoint and onto their flight.

Prohibited Items
TSA Reminder: Fireworks Don’t Fly on Airplanes
In general do not bring the following items:
- Flammable items
- Explosive items
- Sharp objects (knives and tools)
- Firearms or replicas
- Sporting sticks and bats
- Hazardous chemicals

Matches and Lighters
One book of safety matches is allowed in a carry-on. Common disposable lighters are only allowed in carry-on luggage.
Liquid Requirements
The TSA uses the 3-1-1 rule to regulate the amount of liquids allowed in carry-on luggage and the method of handling during check in. No more than 3 ounces of liquid per container and all containers must fit in 1 quart size clear zip-lock bag.
TSA is allowing a 12 ounce or smaller bottle of hand sanitizer per person in carry-on luggage at this time. Hand sanitizer bottles larger than 12 ounces will not be allowed.

Airport Terminal Hours
The terminal opens approximately two hours before the first flight and closes approximately one hour after the last flight.
Directions to Tweed
From I-95 (Traveling North)
Take I-95 North to exit 50 (Woodward Avenue / Lighthouse Point). At the 2nd traffic light, turn right onto Townsend Ave. Follow Townsend Avenue 1.2 miles to the second traffic light, and turn left onto Fort Hale Road and proceed three (3) blocks to the airport entrance straight ahead. 155 Burr Street, New Haven, CT.
From I-95 (Traveling South)
Take I-95 South to exit 51 (Frontage Road). Merge right and proceed to the 3rd traffic light, turn left onto Townsend Avenue. Follow Townsend Avenue 1.3 miles to the second traffic light, turn left onto Fort Hale Road and proceed three (3) blocks to the airport entrance straight ahead. 155 Burr Street, New Haven, CT.
From I-91 and Points North
Take I-91 South toward New Haven. At the I-95 interchange, follow I-95 North towards New London. Take exit 50 (Woodward Ave/Lighthouse Point). At the 3rd traffic light turn right onto Townsend Ave. Follow Townsend Avenue 1.2 miles to the first traffic light and turn left onto Fort Hale Road and proceed three (3) blocks to the airport entrance straight ahead. 155 Burr Street, New Haven, CT.
