Announcing New American Airlines Service to Charlotte
August 6, 2018 (New Haven, CT) Today, the Tweed New Haven Regional Airport Authority is pleased to announce that American Airlines will be adding a new Saturday flight service between New Haven (NHV) and the Charlotte-Douglas International Airport (CLT) beginning on December 22, 2018.
The new nonstop jet service offers residents and visitors to southern Connecticut fast, reliable and convenient access to Charlotte-Douglas International Airport, American's second largest hub in the country. Tickets for the new service are available now at www.flytweed.com.
“We are thrilled that American will be adding another route at Tweed-New Haven,” said Airport Executive Director Tim Larson. “This represents an improved passenger experience for our customers and is a demonstration of American’s continued commitment to our growing market.”
With the addition of this route American’s jet service connects New Haven passengers to more 180 destinations with a quick, one-stop connection in Charlotte. Additional connections can be made from Philadelphia via American’s other hubs to access nearly 350 destinations in more than 50 countries across American’s worldwide network.
“We applaud American’s commitment to our City. With the new service offering more people access to flights throughout the world, Tweed has become a stronger asset and a more convenient option for New Haven and the region,” stated Mayor Toni N. Harp. “As we work to improve Tweed and extend the runway we will be able to reach hub cities which are farther away in the Midwest and Florida. we are confident that soon, New Haven will become the transportation hub that Connecticut needs.”
The ongoing enhancements and upgrade to the main airport runway will ensure continued operational reliability for American while also opening up Tweed to longer distance flights for the future.
“The new service clearly demonstrates American’s confidence in the greater New Haven market, but there is still more work to be done to strengthen Tweed and make it the economic engine that our region so desperately needs,” said Ginny Kozlowski, CEO Economic Development Corporation of New Haven/REX Development. “Tweed’s growth is critical to helping businesses stay in Connecticut and to help attract new businesses from outside of Connecticut.”
Tweed-New Haven Regional Airport (airport booking code HVN) is located just fifteen minutes from Downtown New Haven. With free Wi-Fi, no waiting, no lines, no hassle and a matter of minutes between parking in front of the terminal and reaching the gate, Tweed is Southern Connecticut’s preferred airport.
